San Diego police are investigating the deaths of two well-known gay men who were found Friday afternoon with bullet wounds at a condominium apartment in the City Heights neighborhood.

The two men were identified Saturday by the county medical examiner as Eric B. Schulthise, 40, and Robert Paul Agnew, 41, both of San Diego.

A press release from the medical examiners office identifies Agnew’s cause of death as “suicide” and Schulthise’s cause of death as “homicide”. According to the report, Shulthise died from “multiple gunshot wounds”. Agnew died from “Penetrating intraoral gunshot wound of head and neck”.

A police spokesman confirmed late Saturday that the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, NBC San Diego reports. Homicide investigators who are working on the case were unavailable for comment, however, because they are out of the office until Monday, San Diego Union Tribune reports.
