::   Readers in the southern Idaho city of Nampa, near Boise, will once again be able to pick up copies of two books that were removed from the local library's shelves earlier this year. Nampa Public Library agreed to put New Joy of Sex and Joy of Gay Sex back on the shelves after ACLU of Idaho threatened to sue the library board over the books' removal. In June, the board hid the books away in the director's office and made them available only by "special request".

::   A analyst on a Fox News morning show was helping the show's anchors complain about an announcement that rival MSNBC will deploy Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as analysts rather than anchors during the network's special election coverage. The analyst brought up Rachel Maddow's new show, "I mean, not only are they keeping these people on for an hour a night, they're adding this lesbian Air America radio host, Rachel Maddow, on every night. So, I mean, they're really entrenching and solidifying a left-wing agenda on this network, not just, you know, pulling something back." Salon's Glenn Greenwald explains why such complaints are silly.

::   Sacramento mayoral candidate and former NBA star Kevin Johnson will announce Wednesday that he's opposed to Proposition 8, the California same-sex marriage ban. He'll make the statement despite his personal belief that marriage is "between a man and a woman", because, he said, he doesn't believe discrimination should be written into the constitution.  Incumbent Mayor Heather Fargo, who's running for a third term, has opposed Proposition 8 since it was drafted and has conducted same-sex marriage ceremonies since June.

image_thumb[3]   ::   Gay icon Kylie Minogue said in an interview that she's long had a crush on bisexual screen icon of yesteryear, Tallulah Bankhead. "I'd go gay for her. She was a fascinating and exotic woman." But she continued with an off-hand comment that has the world's tabs all atwitter: "God knows I can't get a man so maybe I should cross over," Kylie told London's Sun. "Kylie Minogue wants to turn lesbian," proclaimed a headline in India's SIFY, and there were plenty more where that came from.
