Kancheepuram, India -- An Indian court has sentence a 55-year-old US resident to five-years of "rigorous imprisonment" after finding him guilty of for sexually assaulting minors, the Indian news site Sify reports.
A magistrate pronounced the sentence on July 27 after finding Miles Patrick guilty of "inducing young fishermen into homosexuality" by showing pornographic films and giving narcotics, according to Sify.
News service IANS identifies Patrick as a Canadian national. Sify reports that he was a resident of New York.
IANS reports that prosecutors charged Patrick with taking pornographic pictures of young children lured to his "den" by an accomplice during repeated visits to the country for over a decade.
The court also sentenced a local associate of Partick to three-years rigorous imprisonment for aiding and abetting him in his acts.
The two were arrested last year by police in the tourist town of Mahablipuram on a complaint from 25-year old local fisherman, Sify reports.
Patrick, a painter, frequently visited Mahabalipuram, famous for its ancient sculptures and the shore temples, in 1998 and stayed there later.
